Surveillance

As part of my Photojournalism class at school, one of the assignments was to create an entry for the World Photo Organisation's Student Focus Competition. The guidelines for the competition were that your image should draw on themes explored within the Tate Modern’s Exposed: Voyeurism, Surveillance and the Camera exhibition. I chose to focus my image around surveillance. My idea was to capture the moment of a girl walking in an alleyway clutching her purse as she notices she is being followed. This is definitely one of those times were I visualized what I wanted in my head and was able to create it pretty spot on to what I imagined. It feels good when you can put something together in your head and execute it to a t. While I wanted it to be lit nicely I still wanted to keep the mood of an alleyway at night. Here is my final image.

Here are some others from the night. The model is Kiersten Wallace

7 For All Mankind 10th Anniversary at the Lincoln Road Store for GQ Magazine

I got the assignment to cover 7 For All Mankind's 10th Anniversary event at their Lincoln Road store last Thursday for GQ Magazine. Champagne and hors d'oeuvre were served, DJ Mike Kruz was spinning all night, and customers even received a free IPod Shuffle with purchases of more then $150.

BTS Last week with Michael Raveney

Last week for my internship with Michael Raveney, I got the chance to assist on two different shoots. The first shoot was for furniture company Source Outdoor.  It was a non stop action super thrilling type of shoot..... not so much. We set up the lighting and switched out furniture on the white backdrop all day. Here's an idea of the working space.

The second shoot was an editorial for Palm Beach Illustrated. We got to shoot at a great house right on the beach in West Palm. The outside courtyard of the house was set to be a dinner party scene with everyone enjoying their food and drinks. I was a little jealous with everyone enjoying themselves in style as I worked.

Cemetery Shoot

A fellow student, Jackie Dawson, who is putting the finishing touches on her Fashion Merchandising portfolio, asked me to do a shoot at the Coconut Grove Cemetery. We were able to get permission for the location and brought out a generator to power the kick ass fog machine. Her influence was from a lot of the vampire shows and movies coming out recently. I really wanted to give the images the atmosphere of a creepy cemetery. Our model was Sarah Schossow.

McLaren Event at the EPIC Hotel 11-12-2010

I was hired by EPIC to cover the McLaren event being held on their lawn. McLaren introduced their first production car, the MP4-12C. The car was pretty bad ass and I got the chance to photograph it before anyone arrived. The little cupcake bites that EPIC was serving were amazing! Here are a few photos from the night

Quidditch Match at Lynn University

I was assigned by Broward-Palm Beach New Times to cover a Quidditch match that was held at Lynn University on Sunday. The game is from the Harry Potter series and the main rule of the game is that through out play you must keep your broom in between your legs. In person, I was focused more on the game play, but as I look at the photos I kind of crack up at the fact that everyone is running around with brooms in between their legs. Check out the full gallery at New Times for more.

Stampede at Funky Buddha 11-6-2010

It was another great show from Stampede. I was personally in rare form, as I had gone out before the show for my brothers 21'st birthday and partaken in the festivities. Beer in one hand, camera in the other. A skill to say the least. Here are the best of the night, including the clever releasing of the balloons that hung overhead.
